Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

The Park is located on the edge of the western rift valley and is shared by three districts. The annual temperature is 70 - 200C and the coldest months are June - July. The heaviest rains are in March - April, September - November. It bears the richest flora in East Africa and is home to the most treasure apes - the gorillas.

It takes 6-7 hours to get to the Park from Kampala. A 4Wd vehicle is recommended.

The major activity in this Park is gorilla tracking. This is to two groups of gorilla, which are visited daily. Six permits per day are sold for the same for each of these groups. Booking is advised at least three months in advance. Tracking can be very strenuous. Physical fitness is paramount. Tracking starts at 8.30hours and may last from1 hour to the whole day.

Nature walks in the park are equally rewarding. These are carried out in four [4]-hiking trails. You will see primates, birds, butterflies, trees and many more. Some places offer very beautiful scenery. Bird lovers should spend at least 3 days in the park. The Park has 348 species of birds with 90% albertine endemic, which are very rare elsewhere. The surrounding area to the Park offers opportunities for cultural tourism.

Accommodation is in a range of comfort and luxurious facilities. African Pearl Safaris, Mantana Tented camps are fully furnished. There are campsites available as well.
