When the COVID-19 pandemic came in the situation became more difficult when many countries set travel restrictions for their citizens.  The tour operators argue that some confirmed trips that were not yet done changed the trails while others were postponed to future dates hoping to be done when the border is opened.

Alternatively, Uganda tour operators decided to turn to Entebbe International Airport however, being a long distance you need at least 3 days trip. Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Day 2: Trek Gorillas, Day 3: Return to Entebbe Airport -Departure.

It is a challenging situation because some tourists do not enjoy long hours of drive from Entebbe to Bwindi (7-8hrs drive) but instead can go for a 3-4hrs drive from Kigali airport. More so it’s costly in terms of money because the more days you spent on the trip, the more expenses.

Reasons for trekking Ugandan Gorillas from Kigali

  • It saves time – guests only travel for the 3-4hrs drive from Kigali Airport to BINP or MGNP which is more than twice shorter than from Entebbe to BINP or MGNP.
  • It’s cheaper to fly to Kigali Airport and cross to southwestern Uganda. The car uses less fuel compared to the one fuel from Entebbe Airport.
  • It makes the trip short – you can do a 1-day Gorilla trek or 2 days Gorilla trek from Kigali which is impossible from Entebbe Airport due to the longer distance.
  • Overcomes rushing since it’s a 3-4hrs drive from the  Gorilla park to Kigali Airport so, guests drive at their leisure to the airport.
